Getting-started
Budgets and reports
Set up your first budget
If you already created a budget in the web app, open Budgets to view it. Otherwise:
- Open the Budgets tab.
- In Start your first budget, choose the start month and year.
- Enter your expected Monthly net income after tax.
- Tap Create budget.
Pledger.io creates the monthly budget period. You can then add expense groups for the areas you want to control.
Add an expense group
An expense group is a spending bucket with a monthly limit, such as Groceries, Bills, or Transport.
- Open Budgets.
- Tap + or the empty-page action.
- Enter a name.
- Enter the maximum Monthly budget.
- Tap Save.
When recording an expense, select this group under More options. The budget card then compares classified spending with your limit.
Review budget progress
- Open Budgets.
- Use the month controls to review the current or an earlier month.
- Review the amount spent and budgeted on each card.
- Tap an expense group to see its progress and remaining amount.
- Tap View transactions to open the transactions assigned to that group.
Pull down to refresh the figures from your server.
Change an expense group’s limit
- Open the expense group.
- Tap Edit.
- Change the monthly amount.
- Tap Save.
The Android app cannot rename or delete an existing expense group, or change expected income after initial setup. Use the web app for budget operations that are not shown on Android.
View reports
Open the Reports tab, then select a report at the top:
- Overview summarizes cash flow, balances, budget performance, top categories, and net worth.
- Income vs expenses compares money received and spent.
- Category breakdown shows where spending was classified.
- Budget performance compares spending with expense-group limits.
- Net worth shows how your total position changed.
- Account balance reviews balances for individual accounts.
Use the month controls to choose a reporting period, and pull down to refresh.
If a report says No data for this period, check that transactions exist in the selected month and that they have the classifications needed by that report.
Reports require a connection to load current results. A recently opened report may remain visible briefly if the connection drops, but reports are not stored for long-term offline use.
