Accounts
Pledger.io separates accounts you own from the people and organizations you exchange money with.
| Account kind | Examples |
|---|---|
| Owned | Checking, savings, cash, credit card, loan, mortgage, or investment account. |
| Creditor | A shop, utility company, landlord, or anyone you pay. |
| Debtor | An employer, customer, friend, or anyone who pays you. |
The account types available on your device come from your Pledger.io server.
Browse accounts
- Open the Accounts tab.
- Choose a filter:
- All shows your own accounts and a way to browse parties.
- Owned shows accounts you control, grouped by type.
- Parties shows creditors and debtors.
- In Parties, use search to find a person or organization.
- Tap an account to see its balance, details, and recent transactions.
Pull down to refresh. Long lists load more entries as you scroll.
Add an account
- Open Accounts.
- Tap +.
- Choose the account type.
- Enter an Account name.
- Choose its currency and complete any useful optional fields:
- Description
- IBAN
- BIC
- Opening balance
- Tap Create account.
Use the opening balance shown on your statement when you begin tracking an existing account. For a new empty account, use zero.
Which party type should I choose?
- Create a Creditor for someone you pay in an expense.
- Create a Debtor for someone who sends you income.
You can also create a missing creditor, debtor, or tag while recording a transaction.
Edit an account
- Open Accounts and select the account.
- Tap the edit icon.
- Update the fields.
- Tap Save changes.
Delete an account
- Open the account.
- Tap the delete icon.
- Review the warning and confirm.
Deleting an account cannot be undone. The server may refuse to delete an account that is used by transactions. If that happens, keep the account or update the related records in the web app.
Understand transaction direction
| Transaction | Money moves |
|---|---|
| Expense | From one of your owned accounts to a creditor. |
| Income | From a debtor to one of your owned accounts. |
| Transfer | Between two accounts you own. |
This direction determines which account fields the transaction form displays.
Account changes require a network connection. Previously loaded accounts and balances remain available for viewing while offline.
